Fall 2014 President's & Dean's Lists Recipients Recognized

5XÉçÇø at Ashtabula's best and brightest were recognized Wednesday night, February 11, at the President's & Dean's List Reception held in the Blue & Gold Room in Main Hall.

The biannual "Celebration of Academic Excellence" lauded nearly 180 students for their performance during the Fall 2014 semester. Each attending student received a certificate from Dean Susan Stocker commemorating their academic achievement. 

Assistant Professor Emeritus Irene Edge and 2014 graduate Rachel Edge delivered the celebratory remarks.

Together with the College of Applied & Technical Studies (CATS) and the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), Kent State's Regional Campuses offer Talent Ready Scholarships up to $2,000. These scholarships, available through June 30, 2025, or when funds run out, will help local workers to enroll in specialized, industry-recognized certificate programs designed to open doors for career advancement.

5XÉçÇø at Ashtabula’s financial aid office will host a pair of FAFSA Nights to aid students and families work their way through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the college financial aid process.

The events are open to new or existing students who live in the Ashtabula area – not just Kent State students! Kent State Ashtabula advisors will help walk through the process.

The sessions will be held on the following dates in Susan J. Stocker Hall (3300 Lake Road West, Ashtabula):

Students and agencies throughout northeastern Ohio are the beneficiaries of 5XÉçÇø's College of Applied and Technical Studies' new Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, currently offered in a hybrid model through the Ashtabula, Salem and Tuscarawas Campuses. 

Program director and lecturer Matt Butler, MSSA, LISW-S, LICDC-CS recently welcomed the Star Beacon into one of his classes in the Zoom Room for a first-hand look at the growing program and its potential to make a huge impact in our area.
