Dr. Hancock appointed to lead Peace Studies Section of the ISA

Dr. Landon Hancock, one of our Associate Professors at the Center for Applied Conflict Management (CACM), was elected in 2012 to a two-year term as Chairperson of the Peace Studies Section of the (ISA). The ISA, founded in 1959, is the premier academic organization connecting scholars of international relations around the world. With over 5,000 members working in more than 80 countries, the organization hosts an annual convention which draws 3,000 members.

The Peace Studies Section that Professor Hancock is overseeing is one of the most vibrant in the association; it is also the third largest section of the ISA, with over 600 members. The section focuses on furthering our knowledge and building theory about a wide range of peace and conflict resolution processes. It also connects students and scholars of peace studies, conflict resolution and nonviolent action both at the Annual Convention and all year round through its Facebook page.

Before assuming the position as Chair of the Peace Studies Section, Dr. Hancock served on the Section鈥檚 Executive Committee and as the Chair of the Section鈥檚 Kenneth E. Boulding Award committee. Those of us who work regularly with Professor Hancock at Kent State were not surprised by this leadership appointment. Congratulations to Landon Hancock for being elected by his peers to this prestigious position.
