5X社区 at Salem received financial support from Gem Young Insurance and Financial Services that establishes a new scholarship to support students pursuing degrees in the insurance studies program.
The Gem Young Insurance Scholarship requires the recipient to be seeking a bachelor鈥檚 degree in insurance studies from 5X社区, maintaining a 3.0 grade point average and be from Columbiana, Mahoning or Trumbull county.
Gem Young is a family-owned, independent insurance agency that has served the Youngstown area since 1947. It offers auto, home, life and business insurance, as well as financial planning, with offices in Canfield, North Jackson and East Liverpool.
Dr. David Dees, interim dean of the Kent State Columbiana County campuses, met with Gem Young President Leo Daprile and Vice President Terry Daprile, along with Tim McFadden, program director at Kent State, to discuss the details of the scholarship and share ideas for future collaboration with students.
