Students nearing the end of their educational journeys with the radiology program at Kent State Salem were welcomed to a recent on-campus career fair that opened their eyes, as well as doors of opportunities.
Several healthcare facilities participated in the career fair, meeting with 15 second-year radiology students and 10 sonography students graduating in December. The vendors expressed that the students were well-prepared for their encounters and that they seek 鈥渨elcoming鈥 facilities at which to work.
The vendors were represented by several employees and among them were four graduates of the Kent State Salem radiology program: Carly Gintert with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; Autumn Moenich with Steel Valley Portable X-Ray NEO; and Brandy Ogg and Bill Parks from Mercy Health.
The other healthcare vendors included East Liverpool City Hospital; Sharon Regional Medical Center; Summa Health; Nationwide Children鈥檚 Hospital of Columbus; Premier Health Associates; Heritage Valley Health System of Beaver, Pa.; and Dispatch Health.
Each vendor paid a $25 registration fee that was directed to the Roy E. Bell Memorial scholarship that will benefit rad tech students on the Salem Campus.
While the vendors seemed pleased with the event, several students also shared their thoughts about the opportunity:
- 鈥淭he job fair was a great experience for my classmates and me. All the vendors were extremely helpful and answered all our questions. It was great to see all our options post-graduation.鈥
- 鈥淓ach person was so kind and made all of us feel very welcome. Coming in as almost graduates can be very intimidating and nerve-racking but each person was nice and explained everything in detail. They also represented their facilities with class!鈥
- 鈥淚 thought the job fair was a great opportunity to see other job opportunities and what other medical imaging facilities are offering. It was very eye-opening as to all the different opportunities that are out there.鈥
- 鈥淚 found the career fair quite helpful. It was interesting to hear about the different sites and see how everyone felt about their jobs. If moving was an option for us, I probably would look more into Nationwide Children's! However, I'm happy to announce I received a job from Mercy Health Youngstown.鈥
