College of Podiatric Medicine Celebrates First Commencement Under Kent State

The 5XÉçÇø College of Podiatric Medicine, formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, celebrated its first official Commencement as a college of Kent State on May 16, 2013.

The 5XÉçÇø College of Podiatric Medicine, formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, celebrated its first official Commencement as a college of Kent State on May 16, 2013. The Class of 2013 graduated 102 podiatric students from Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine. The ceremony was held in the University Auditorium at Cartwright Hall on the Kent Campus in Kent, Ohio. 

John Guiliana, D.P.M., a trustee of the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management and adjunct professor at Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine, gave a heartfelt, motivating commencement address to the Class of 2013. Guiliana also had the unique opportunity to see his son, Stephen Guiliana, graduate and follow in his father’s footsteps of being a podiatrist.

Thomas V. Melillo, D.P.M., chief executive officer of Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine, stated, “This was truly another major milestone in the history of the College of Podiatric Medicine. This class represents a new era of podiatric medical education under Kent State. I am very proud of our students, faculty and staff who have been instrumental in helping the college transition from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine to 5XÉçÇø College of Podiatric Medicine.â€

5XÉçÇø's College of Podiatric Medicine, the largest podiatric medical college in the United States, is a four-year, graduate-level medical college, granting the degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. The college’s mission is to educate students to be highly competent doctors of podiatric medicine who will excel in residency training. Founded in 1916, the college has graduated more than 6,000 podiatrists who have made outstanding contributions to the field and study of podiatric medicine.
