Nominations are open for this year’s Celebration of Service and Engagement award ceremony. This annual event provides an opportunity to formally recognize and celebrate outstanding service, community engagement and social justice initiatives by members of the 5X community, as well as express gratitude to our community partners for the critical role they play in providing opportunities that engage students.
“I ask that you please take this time to reflect on the past academic year and think of the work that was done to advance the civic mission of our university,” says Amanda Woodyard, director of Kent State’s Community Engaged Learning (formerly the Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement). “You need not look far to find inspiring examples of community engagement taking place at Kent State and in our surrounding communities.
“I hope that you’ll share those great stories with us by nominating an individual, a group or a project that you feel is deserving of one of the Celebration of Service and Engagement awards.”
Award categories are:
- Student Volunteer of the Year (undergraduate and graduate level)
- Faculty Service-Learning Award
- Outstanding New Service Initiative Award (individual and group categories)
- Outstanding Established Service Initiative Award (individual and group categories)
