Information Services Encourages Faculty Members to Use Blackboard Learn Support Services

As the semester ends, the Educational Technology department within the Division of Information Services is offering faculty members Blackboard Learn resources to help with Grade Center and other features while completing final grades. Assistance is available by phone, email and walk-up support.

Educational Technology provides tutorials and training sessions all year long and offers one-on-one consultation by appointment, but these services are especially helpful to deal with problems that arise at the end of the semester.

“End-of-semester support is available to all faculty who may need assistance with anything regarding ending their Blackboard Learn course, from putting an end date for student access to adding grades from Blackboard Learn into the final grading system,” says Roberta Bain, manager of Information Services.

End of semester support options include:

  • Tutorials: Self-paced text and video tutorials for managing courses, grades and tests are available online. Topics especially helpful for the end of the semester are Student Performance, Generating Course Reports and Grade Center.
  • Technical support: Faculty can use 24/7 technical support for Blackboard Learn or other tech issues by calling 330-672-HELP (4357) or by visiting and opening a support ticket. Helpdesk operators have all received Bb Learn Level 1 Certification.
  • Walk-up Wednesdays: Walk-up hours are available in partnership with Training and Support to offer tech help on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Computer Lab on the first floor of University Library. More information is available at www.kent.edu/techhelp.

As a reminder, additional services include assisting faculty with Blackboard Learn throughout the year. Faculty can request personalized training sessions or department and group workshops. These sessions require two weeks notice prior to the training session. In-person workshops are also offered in University Library that teach various types of software and computer applications. A detailed list with dates and times of workshops can be found at .
