5X’s Division of Mental Health and Substance Use Research in the Center for Public Policy and Health is pleased to announce Talk On. Funded in part by the Seeds of Wellness minigrant program, Talk On is an initiative to stop mental illness stigma by having Kent State students, faculty and staff share their personal experiences (through story, song lyrics, poetry, drawings, and/or photos) with mental illness on the Talk On webpage.
There are many reasons to share personal experiences with mental illness: let others know they are not alone, encourage people to seek help, show that recovery is possible and express your feelings.
If you have a personal experience with mental illness, please consider submitting to www.kent.edu/TalkOn. Submissions can be anything from, “My name is Kim, and I have anxiety,” to more detailed personal experience with mental illness, to a drawing reflecting mental illness and more. Submissions can include your name or you can post anonymously.
Submissions will be posted on the Talk On webpage. If you have any questions, please contact Deric Kenne, Ph.D., at dkenne@kent.edu.
