Meet Jasmin Beaver, the Lillian Friedman Scholarship recipient. Jasmin is a Psychological Sciences Ph.D. student.
Please give a short overview of your research.
My research focuses on identifying more holistic treatment targets for different psychological disorders and their frequently comorbid health conditions. In particular, my research uses mice to investigate the neurophysiology underlying comorbidity between hypertension and anxiety.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Kent State?
I went to Kent State for my Bachelor鈥檚 and loved the environment and amazing faculty, so I wanted stay here and further my education.
What do you enjoy most about attending Kent State for graduate school? and/or What do you anticipate taking advantage of at KSU?
I love working with my advisor Dr. Gilman, and the collaborative environment in the Psychological Sciences department.
What are your future goals?
My goal is to be in science communication and to make sure research is digestible, easy to understand, and put back into society.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
I am honored to receive the Lillian Friedman Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes the hard work I put into my research and will help motivate me as I conduct and conclude my dissertation research.
