Course Name: SPED 24000 Inclusive Practices
Description: Beginning in the 1970鈥檚 the Italian government passed some of the most progressive laws worldwide regarding inclusion of students with disabilities in general education settings. Since that time Italian special education law has evolved considerably but still maintains a strong emphasis on inclusion. Students in this course will have the opportunity to observe local area schools and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the Italian approach to inclusive education for students with disabilities. Students in this course will meet with local teachers, students, and school leaders. Students will participate in a series of site visits and guest lectures. Site visits include primary and secondary schools and an international language school.
