5XÉçÇø is a credentialed training provider of educational courses for Ohio's TechCred Program, which launched in September 2019 to give employers the chance to upskill current and future employees in today’s tech-infused economy. Through TechCred, businesses can identify the specific qualifications they need and employees they want to upskill toward a more advanced position. In partnership with a training provider like 5XÉçÇø, the employer can apply online at TechCred.Ohio.Gov. Employers who submit successful applications will be reimbursed up to $2,000 per credential when current or prospective employees complete eligible technology-focused credentials.

Non Credit Online Industrial Maintenance Training Programs

Electrical Maintenance Technician (online program)

Electrical Maintenance Technician (online) is designed to provide electrical maintenance technicians with the skills they need to be successful. Students will gain skills in: math, print reading, safety, basic electricity, electrical measurements, AC Circuits and Transformers, DC circuits and fundamentals, electrical protection, motor drives, AC/DC equipment and controls, motor controls, power supplies, electronic components and circuits, programmable logic controllers, measurement and instrumentation, process control and instrumentation, and more.  This program consists of 114 individual short course modules. Total hours:  273.

Multicraft Technician (online program)

Multicraft Technician (online) | For those maintenance technicians who choose to be multi-crafted, Kent State Tuscarawas has a combined training program that provides skills for technicians to be successful in both the mechanical and electrical fields.  Core modules include basic math, print reading, and safety as well as an overview of mechanical systems such as drive components, hydraulics, and pneumatics as well as an overview of electrical systems such as basic electricity, AC/DC fundamentals, motor drives and controls, and PLC’s, to name just a few.  This program consists of 127 individual short course modules. Total hours:  355.

For Credit Electrical Engineering Technology Programs

AC/DC Machines (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGR 43220 ELECTRICAL MACHINERY course will understand the principles of operation and application of motors, generators, transformers, and other magnetic devices as well as electrical power generation, distribution, and use. This course is offered online.

CAM Manufacturing Fundamentals (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 43700 COMPUTER-INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING course will study the computer-integrated manufacturing system as it relates to product design, estimating inventory, machining and assembly, quality control and distribution. This course is offered online.

Computer Networking Technology (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 33016 PC/NETWORK ENGINEERING AND TROUBLESHOOTING course will learn about the service, maintenance, upgrade, and optimization of personal computers. Specification, installation, and maintenance of local area networks are covered. Students learn communication protocols and network architecture. This course is offered online.

Electronic Devices

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33440 ELECTRONIC DEVICES course will receive an introduction to electronic non-linear devices including diodes, transistors, optoelectronic devices, and operational amplifiers. Use and application of these devices in different types of applications like rectifiers, amplifiers, and linear integrated circuits.

Electronic Systems

Individuals who complete the EERT 12010 - INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRONICS and courses will be exposed to semiconductor theory, properties, and application of PN junctions and bipolar junction transistors, amplifiers, field effect transistors (FET) amplifiers, JFET and MOSFET biasing and their use in simple circuits. Individuals who complete the EERT 22011 ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS course will receive an understanding of Frequency effects, Miller's Theorem, decibel notation and negative feedback, Oscillators, Op-amps, circuits and applications, Thyristors, and electronically regulated power supplies.

Industrial Controls (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 33225 INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS course will gain an understanding of the application of electronics to the control of industrial machines and processes. This course is offered online.

Microcomputers (online course)

Individuals who complete the EERT 22014 MICROPROCESSORS AND ROBOTICS course will receive an introduction to microprocessor system fundamentals, number systems, binary codes, hexa-decimal codes, programming fundamentals in C , C++ software, Microcontroller hardware architecture and instruction set, with applications to robot systems motor control, sensors.  This course is offered online.

PLC Programming (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 33000 INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS course will receive an introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), focusing on understanding the principles of how PLCs work and providing practical information and skills about programming and troubleshooting a PLC system. Simulators relating to popular PLCs used in the industry will be utilized for practicing programming and troubleshooting.  This course is offered online.

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) & Human Machine Interface (HMI)

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33031 PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS course will receive an introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLCS) covering hardware, ladder logic programming, networking, and communications. Programming timers, counters and sequencers and an introduction to human machine interfaces (HMIS).

For Credit Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs

Advanced Manufacturing Systems

Individuals who complete the ENGT 30000 ADVANCED MANUFACTURING course will understand the concepts of advanced manufacturing technologies, processes, and equipment. Covered topics include automation and process control, flexible manufacturing systems, and manufacturing using additive processes such as 3D printing. Students will learn hands-on programming and the operation of relevant equipment such as CNC machines and robots during the laboratory sessions.

Engineering Drawings Fundamentals (online course)

Individuals who complete the MERT 12000 ENGINEERING DRAWING  course will gain an understanding of engineering drawing principles and techniques: orthographic projection, sketching, sections, auxiliary views, dimensioning and conventional practices. Students will also learn how to make engineering drawings using AUTOCAD. This course is offered online.

Fluid Power

Individuals who complete the MERT 22012 FLUID POWER course will gain an understanding of fluid properties, kinematics of fluid flow, momentum, viscosity, conservation of energy in fluid flow, industrial hydraulics, and gas laws. Hands-on experience will be gained through experiments on the Vickers Hydraulic test stand.

Introduction to Creo Parametric (online course)

Individuals who complete the MERT 34002 ADVANCED SOLID MODELING course will gain an understanding of advanced parametric solid modeling using Creo Parametric to create and analyze solid models. This includes model creation using advanced features, introduction to FEA simulation, and manufacturing simulations. This course is offered online.

Introduction to Robotics

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33333 INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS course will gain an understanding of the classification, characteristics, and functions of industrial robots. This course covers basic safety precautions for working with robots. Laboratory time will be spent programming FANUC industrial robots and utilizing FANUC robot teach pendants. Students will have the opportunity to obtain a FANUC Robotics Handling Tool Operation and Programming Certificate of Completion.

Manufacturing Processes

Individuals who complete the MERT 12004 MANUFACTURING PROCESSES course will gain an understanding of various manufacturing processes such as extrusion, molding, forging, casting, stamping, piercing, joining, and finishing. Investigates the various ways parts are made from the vast array of materials available. Hands on experience will be gained through working with metal casting, lathes, forging and machining operations.

Manufacturing Engineering Materials

Individuals who complete the MERT 12005 PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS course will gain an understanding of the structure and physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials, such as metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), polymers, ceramics, and composites. Students learn the mechanical behavior of materials under different types of loading and testing of mechanical properties including elasticity, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, shear strength, bending strength and hardness. Heat treatment and the effects of the manufacturing processes on the material properties are also considered. Hands on experience will be gained through experiments using a tensile test machine, Rockwell and Brinell hardness testers and other material characterization equipment.

Material Science (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 43363 MATERIALS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY course will study the nature and family of engineering materials. The focus is on understanding the relationships among structure, properties, processing, and selection of materials in designing industrial parts and systems.  This is an online course.

Material Handling (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33870 FACILITY DESIGN AND MATERIAL HANDLING course will gain a fundamental understanding of how layout affects the flow through a system. Both qualitative and quantitative tools are presented for complete approach to facility design and material handling. This course is offered online.

Plastics Technology (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 32101 POLYMERS I course will receive an introduction to various polymers, thermoplastics, and thermosets. Students will gain an understanding of the processes used to produce products and be given an outline of polymer chemistry including methods of testing and identification. This course is offered online.

Quality Fundamentals (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33700 QUALITY TECHNIQUES course will receive an introduction to quality management and the tools and techniques including the basic tools identified by ASQ (American Society for Quality) as well as an introduction to Lean and Six Sigma. The information presented helps prepare the student to qualify for the Quality Process Analyst Certification. This course is offered online.

SolidWorks CAD (online course)

Individuals who complete the MERT 12001 COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN course will receive an introduction to 3D modeling techniques to design and draft mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks. This course is offered online.

Statics

Individuals who complete the MERT 22005 STATICS course will gain an understanding of basic vector mechanics, calculation of reactions from applied forces, drawing free body diagrams, working with equations of equilibrium, analysis of simple structures, calculating mass properties and forces due to friction.

Tool and Die Making

Individuals who complete the MERT 22003 COMPUTER-AIDED TOOL DESIGN course will course will gain an understanding of tool design practices and procedures including materials, commercial standards, cutting tools, drill jigs, fixtures, dies, and gauges using computer-aided design.

Additive Manufacturing (online Micro-Credential)

Individuals who earn the 3D Printing Micro-Credential will learn about the construction and use of 3D Printers and be involved in hands on experience in building one from a kit themselves through our MERT 21096 INDIVIDUAL INVESTIGATION IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY online course.  In addition, an understanding of the plastics commonly used 3D Printers will be investigated in our ENGT 32101 POLYMERS I online course.  Here a description of various polymers, thermoplastics and thermosets is investigated, as well as the processes used to produce plastic products. The course includes an outline of polymer chemistry including methods of testing and identification of plastics.

It's that easy! Employers must file reimbursement applications within six weeks of each employee completing a credential. The reimbursement can cover tuition, lab fees, manuals, textbooks and other certification costs.
