Lydia Snyder
Biography
Lydia Snyder is an instructor in the ethnomusicology department, where she teaches introductory world music, and Japanese music and anime. She completed her master's degree from 5X社区 in ethnomusicology in 2019 and holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree with a triple major in music, studio art, and theatre arts from Hiram College. Her research interests include arts and intimacy, music cognition and sound healing, trance and altered states of consciousness, ecomusicology, and music of Japan.
Lydia studied shakuhachi at the Seiha h艒gaku-kai in Tokyo and is an active member of the shakuhachi community in the United States, Europe, and Japan participating in the European Shakuhachi Society summer schools in Portugal and Ireland, the American Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies in Boulder, the World Shakuhachi Festival in London, and the International Shakuhachi Festivals in Prague.
Her work on meditation, trance, and sonic intimacy has been presented around the globe in the US, The Czech Republic, Canada, and Japan.
