It’s clear that 5XÉçÇø’s many generous supporters significantly impact our students and that their giving has a significant, personal impact for them as well. You can read our donors’ inspiring stories here, but it’s important to know that many of our students are also inspiring philanthropists as well.
The Kent State Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement (OEECE) promotes civic involvement and community building at Kent State, within the surrounding communities and across the globe. It does so by offering course-based volunteer opportunities, and by allowing students to apply theories and knowledge into real world experiences
Through these OEECE opportunities, students gain a deeper understanding of personal philanthropy and giving back.
Ongoing, civic-minded volunteer opportunities offered by OEECE include cooking and delivering meals to the homeless, tutoring children and adults, addressing community needs and much more. Through these selfless activities, our students come together and assist community partners; learn in diverse environments, build impactful relationships and grow personally.
Long before many Kent State students are able to donate to causes financially, they are learning the tremendous impact philanthropy can have on others as well as themselves. We are thankful that through OEECE, we are able to help shape countless Flashes into individuals dedicated to giving back to their communities and the world.
See below for details on OEECE opportunities for students, or visit the OEECE web page for more information.

Alternative Spring Break
The purpose of the trips is to engage students in service, as well as to inform them about current social issues and encourage their ongoing involvement in social change.
Campus-wide Service Events
A large number of Kent students, faculty and staff come together to have a positive impact on the community. Campus-wide service opportunities include Freshman Day of Service, Make a Difference Day and MLK Day of Service.
