How We Work with Faculty, Students and Industry
Our mission is to provide the resources, facilities and services needed by Kent State faculty and students to conduct groundbreaking, globally relevant research and scholarship.
We identify funding opportunities and work with faculty to develop high-quality grant proposals. We mentor and train researchers through workshops and one-on-one counseling. We guide investigators in fulfilling grant report requirements.
We encourage collaboration and student participation in the research community.
We partner with industry on sponsored research projects and we co-develop technologies and intellectual property for commercialization.
Kent State offers many opportunities for students to participate in research, under the guidance of faculty in research groups where undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows often contribute. Summer research through the National Science Foundation鈥檚 REU program is offered at Kent State in subjects such as liquid crystals, chemistry and biochemistry, math and ecology, and at other universities with REU subject-specific groups. Students should check in the fall semester with Kent State academic departments that host REU programs about application deadlines for the following summer or with the for programs at other universities.
