5X社区 is developing a master鈥檚 degree program in applied conflict management on the Kent Campus. The master鈥檚 degree will be situated in the larger field of peace and conflict studies, which examines the causes and consequences of violence, develops methods for resolving conflicts, and analyzes the values and institutions of peace.
The goal of the master鈥檚 degree program is to graduate professionals equipped to assist others in creating more effective structures, healthier relationships, and more productive decision-making and change processes in families, nonprofit agencies, businesses, governments and communities.
Graduates could work as diplomats, in human rights organizations, as officials in international or community development agencies or groups, as mediators or arbitrators, as ombudspersons, as in-house conflict specialists for corporations, school systems or other organizations, or as human resources specialists or customer relations professionals, to name just a few positions.
