Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Set for the Newest Portion of the John Richard Demuth Trail

5X at Tuscarawas will celebrate the opening of the newest segment of the John Richard Demuth Trail on Tuesday, September 24 at noon.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the trail expansion and honor the John Richard Demuth family.  The two-mile trail was named in honor of Mr. Demuth’s 50 years of dedicated service to the campus’ Tuscarawas County University Foundation board of directors. He was a charter member of the foundation board, which originated in 1968.

“We are thrilled to dedicate this trail in honor of the John Demuth family,” said Kent State Tuscarawas Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Brad Bielski. “Mr. Demuth was compassionate about and devoted to the growth of the campus and education of local individuals.”

The ceremony will be held at the trailhead located next to the Science and Advanced Technology Center, 330 University Dr. NE, New Philadelphia.  Refreshments to follow.

“The campus is committed to creating healthy recreational and educational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities,” said Bielski. “We are so excited to celebrate the opening with the entire community. The trail is another step toward making our campus more accessible and enjoyable for all students and visitors,”
