21 Things to Love About Kent State 

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so what better way to celebrate the day dedicated to love than celebrating something we all have in common - Kent State. Kent State’s University Communications and Marketing department asked their student employees to list the 21 things they love about Kent State. 

1. Black squirrels  

Black squirrels are a symbol of Kent State, and you can see them everywhere around campus!

 

 

2. Our colors -- blue and gold 

We love to show our Kent State pride by wearing blue and gold! 

3. Amazing professors

Kent State’s instructors truly care about each and every student.

4. The tallest building in Portage County 

The Kent State Library is the tallest building in Portage County and it makes for the perfect study spot. 

 

5. Having a Starbucks on every corner 

Whenever you need a caffeine fix, Kent State has you covered!

6. Flash’s dance moves

Flash brings school spirit everywhere he goes!

 

 

7. Late night Rosie’s runs 

Rosie’s is always open late so it’s perfect for a midnight snack!

8. Walks downtown 

Downtown Kent is just steps away from campus and has great restaurants, coffee shops and stores. 

9. All-you-can-eat at Eastway, the Hub, and DI Hub

With so many amazing choices, there is always something for everyone!

10. Homecoming Celebration

A big day when students come together to show off their Kent State pride!

 

11. Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center

Whether you are looking for a zumba class, want to rock climb, or play intramural sports, the Rec has it all. 

12. Deer, gophers, chipmunks and squirrels running around campus

There's no place like Kent Campus. 

The sun rises on the horizon of Kent Campus, giving off a golden glow.

14. Trivia nights and Kiva movies

There is always a fun event going on around campus with great prizes. 

15. Risman Plaza

Risman Plaza/the “K” is the center of campus and the location for fun events like Black Squirrel Fest and BlastOff!

 

16. Sporting Events

There is no better way than cheering on Kent State with your classmates!

In need of a quiet study spot? Kent State has the perfect places to choose from!

The students at Kent State strive to help each other anyway they can.

19. Behind the Brain Plaza

Known by many students as just “The Brain,” Behind the Brain Plaza is one of the largest and most iconic statues on campus!
