Alpha Delta Nu Inducts New Members into Fall 2018 Class

Three second-year nursing students earn entry into honor society

The Gamma Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Delta Nu nursing honor society at 5X社区 at Ashtabula welcomed its three newest members on Monday, November 5, 2018. Sherry Braat, Kelly Loveland and Bridget Keenan were inducted as the Fall Class of 2018 during an evening ceremony in the Blue & Gold Room in Main Hall. This is the fifth class from Kent State Ashtabula inducted into the honor society. 

The evening included remarks from Dr. Susan J. Stocker, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of the Ashtabula campus, as well as Counseling Specialist Johanna Slivinske, MSW, LISW, who worked with the class on their honors project throughout the semester.  Faculty Advisor Lisa King, MSN, APRN-CNS and Interim Nursing Program Director Julie Senita, Ph.D., MSN, RN, also spoke at the ceremony, which was followed by a light reception.

The objective of Alpha Delta Nu is to recognize the academic excellence of students in the study of the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). The society shall encourage the pursuit of advance degrees in the profession of nursing as well as continuing education as a life-long professional responsibility. Additionally, the society shall participate in the recruitment of qualified individuals into the profession of nursing.  

Students are eligible to be considered for induction after the first two semesters where they have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and have earned a grade of B or higher in each nursing class of the nursing program with no previous failures in any nursing course. Students would be invited to provisional membership at the beginning of the third semester of the core curriculum. Full membership would be granted if the student maintains the cumulative 3.0 GPA and earns a grade of B or better in all nursing courses in the third semester of study during the second year of the core nursing curriculum. Students shall have demonstrated conduct on campus and the clinical areas that reflects integrity and professionalism.
