Radiology

5X社区 at Salem provides programs for students pursuing careers in radiology.

The Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology (RADT) degree and the Bachelor of Radiologic and Imaging Sciences (BRIT) degrees offer concentrations in Computed Tomography (CT), Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Radiation Therapy (RTH).  

These programs provide the academic and clinical education to meet national certification examination requirements by the or . The BRIT degree can provide additional education enhancing career opportunities.  All programs achieve average passage rates on the national certification exams that exceed national averages.

Accreditation of the radiologic technology and radiation therapy programs are provided by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology () and the Ohio Department of Health ()

Radiology Information Sessions are offered from October to January that explain both degree options.

At Kent State Salem, you can complete all of your classes with the guidance from our experienced faculty. The Salem Campus features radiology and sonography labs that provide students with clinical skills needed for rotations at clinical education settings at area healthcare facilities.

According to the , employment of radiologic technologists is projected to grow 13 percent through 2026-faster than the average for all occupations. As the population grows older, there will be an increase in medical conditions which can require imaging procedures to diagnose and treat them.

An associate鈥檚 degree is the beginning educational path for radiologic technologists. A bachelor degree can provide additional education and certifications in CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Radiation Therapy.  CT Technologists and Radiation Therapists must be licensed in Ohio but the requirements vary by state.
