Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

As part of the university’s Kent State of Wellness initiative, 5X is becoming a smoke-free, tobacco-free campus. A part of the university’s Strategic Roadmap to a Distinctive Kent State, all Kent State campuses will be smoke- and tobacco-free beginning July 1, 2017, fostering the wellbeing of the university community and the environment.

The Division of Business and Finance is changing its name, effective July 1. The new name will be the Division of Finance and Administration. The change will align more closely with the services provided by the departments in the division and provide consistency with the nomenclature of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed Donald L. Mason of Zanesville, Ohio, to a three-year term on the 5X Board of Trustees. Mason’s appointment began May 19, 2017, replacing the unexpired term of the late trustee Richard Marsh, which runs through May 2020.
