Lala Hajibayova, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, received a fellowship (about $2,000) from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Consortium for the Science of Sociotechnical Systems (CSST), to attend the Summer Research Institute for the Science of Socio-Technical Systems, June 27–July 1, 2016, in Stevenson, Washington.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed a new trustee to the 5XÉçÇø Board of Trustees. Kasich named Robin Kilbride of Wadsworth, Ohio, to a nine-year term as a trustee. Kilbride’s appointment began April 18, 2016, and ends May 16, 2024.

After successfully beta testing a new Web design this spring, 5XÉçÇø will be moving forward with the redesign transition this summer.
This redesign, spearheaded by branding agency 160over90, will work to align Kent State’s online presence with the university’s new brand.
The initiative will encompass all of Kent State’s websites, not just its institutional site www.kent.edu. It will include a redesign of websites for Regional Campuses, individual colleges, academic departments and the university administration.
Kent State Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen has announced the hiring of Todd Starkey as the Golden Flashes' head women's basketball coach. Starkey takes over as the sixth head coach in the history of Kent State's women's basketball after spending the last two seasons as an assistant at Indiana University.
