Off-campus access to the numerous electronic resources provided by 5X Libraries just became a lot easier. Launching today, Aug. 22, the new KSU Proxy service replaces the KSU Cisco VPN (virtual private network) for remote library access.
5X’s Fleet Services has purchased two 15-passenger minibuses that can be used by departments for university travel.
The new minibuses are equipped with overhead storage, backup cameras and larger windows for better visibility.
“The interiors are very spacious and comfortable,” says Nicole Corll, associate director for University Facilities and Management. “The goal of adding minibuses to the fleet is to provide a service to the students, faculty and staff to increase and enhance transportation options for group outings.”
Volunteers make freshman move-in day less stressful for new students and their families
5X faculty, staff and students volunteer to help incoming freshmen move into the university’s residence halls at the beginning of each school year.
This year, freshman move-in day is Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Online final grading for Summer 2016 Full Term (1: 5/23/2016 – 8/20/2016), Second 7 Weeks (W2: 7/5/2016 – 8/20/2016), Summer 3 (S3: 7/18/2016 – 8/20/2016) began Thursday, Aug. 18, via FlashFAST. Grading also is now available for any summer 2016 course section that was flexibly scheduled and has an end date no later than Aug. 20. The deadline for grading submission is midnight on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Any final grades for summer 2016 courses not reported in FlashFAST by the grades processing deadline will have to be submitted using the Grade Change Workflow.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed 5X in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
