MARCH 2023 EDITION OF INSIDE EQUAL ACCESS

Alison Haynes and Amanda Feaster

Hello, Flashes family! This is Alison. I just got back from . What an experience! The conference was attended by close to 1500 disabled users, care givers, and pros from education, technology, business, and engineering industries.

The world of accessibility is expanding at warp speed and I was privileged to see new tech and meet people on the cutting edge of invention and development. Being in a place where people with disabilities are the majority was invigorating.

After speaking at two sessions, attending a dozen plus seminars, and hearing an amazing keynote address, I鈥檓 even more excited about advocating for our students and staff with disabilities.

Places that brim with acceptance of disability CAN exist. Thank you for your work, readers, to make Kent State one of those places.

Created in 1987 after the Women鈥檚 History Project commissioned Congress, Women鈥檚 History Month has been celebrated in the United States for the past 36 years. While March is the month we celebrate the amazing accomplishment of women, in recent years, social media platforms have exploded with influencers living with disabilities.

In this new article of the series, we takes closer look at some of the best accessibility features in the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 13, Google鈥檚 鈥渕ost accessible OS yet鈥.

Captioning technology was used during the pandemic to make live events accessible for all, and it continue to be used more widely in all areas of life with new innovations coming out every year.

This month, we honor Johnny Rocco, a Training Coordinator, for his remarkable effort in addressing accessibility in his workshops and supporting his colleagues with technology training needs.
