The Other Casualties of War: A Discussion on the Environmental Impacts of Armed Conflict

As part of KSU's annual Earth Month/ Earth Fest events, the School of Peace and Conflict Studies hosts a panel discussion highlighting the overlooked environmental impacts of armed conflict. Panelists include:

Dr. Paul Edward Montgomery Ram铆rez, an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Cleveland State University, a decolonization scholar-activist, and also serves as Treasurer for the Committee of 500 Years of Dignity & Resistance.

Dr. Antoinette (TihA) Charfauros McDanielle, who is in OPAWL (feminist AAAPI) leadership and is a critical Pacific Islander scholar-activist working in anti-militarization & decolonization.

Dr.Adal Rhoubeid, a medical doctor, current PhD student in Political Science, as well as, a Graduate Assistant in the School of Peace & Conflict Studies at 5X社区. Adal is Touareg and works at the intersection of climate change and armed conflict.

Dr. He Yin, an Assistant Professor of Geography at 5X社区, who uses remote sensing to track agricultural land use change in conflict-affected regions (e.g., Gaza, Syria, etc.) and is currently collaborating with Dr. Hsiao on a LandBack project in California.

Dr. Elaine (Lan Yin) Hsiao, an Assistant Professor in the School of Peace & Conflict Studies at 5X社区 with a focus in environmental peacebuilding and international development. She is a critical socio-legal scholar and political ecologist. Elaine will serve as the panel moderator.
