鈥淭his joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of the nation鈥檚 efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.鈥

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education. The week was created in 2000 and is now celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide. The objective is to promote educational programs that prepare Americans, as well as international students, to succeed in a world that is becoming increasingly globalized. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs describes International Education Week as 鈥渁n opportunity to celebrate diversity and the many opportunities and benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.鈥 It also encourages the active participation of all individuals and institutions interested in international education and exchange programs.

The purpose is to map out the journey of the student from when she arrives at Cleveland Airport and moves to campus, and to highlight processes, actions, interactions that work well and those that require additional considerations.  

The goal is to be able to tease out where the opportunities and challenges lie and how we can, together, make the experience smoother, better, helpful and comforting for our international students overall.

Have lunch on the ACCBE International Programs Office while learning about the truth behind the myths about studying abroad. Is studying abroad affordable? Can business students graduate on time and still study abroad? Is a foreign language required? All of these questions and more will be answered. Open to all Crawford College students!

Registration is strongly requested so we can plan food accordingly.

MCLSFaculty-led trip to Japan-Journey to Japan: Past and PresentWe are offering a faculty-led trip to Japan next summer (May 24-June 4). This study abroad program takes you to Japan to learn important aspects of its culture and history. You will spend four days in Tokyo, four days in Kyoto, and two days in Osaka and Nara.Although knowledge in Japanese will be a great advantage, non-Japanese speakers are invited to join since all of the presentations and readings will be in English. During this session, we will go over the itinerary, cost, application, etc of the program.

Department of Psychological SciencesFlorence Summer Institute Psychology Information Session 

Study psychology as part of Kent State's Florence Summer Institute! Dr. Jennifer Taber will be teaching a psychology course called Emotions, Culture, and Health in Florence, Italy (June 30 鈥 July 24). Attend this information session to learn more about the Florence Summer Institute from Dr. Taber.

International Student and Scholar ServicesInternational Cook-Off 

OGE鈥檚 signature event, the International Cook-Off Competition is held during International Education Week. Hosted by the Office of Global Education and supported by Kent State Dining Services, the Cook-Off will feature food and beverages from around the world. Six teams from around the world will compete in the ultimate global culinary challenge!  The event is open to everyone and the fantastic food is free!
