Celebrating 100 years

From Fall 2009 through Summer 2010, alumni, community members, students, faculty and staff joined together to make some noise while celebrating the university鈥檚 100th birthday. Let鈥檚 face it, after a century of service, our alma mater has good reason to celebrate. In fact, she has at least .

  • It is unlikely that, 50 years from now, anyone won鈥檛 remember where the 5X社区 Centennial Time Capsule was buried. That鈥檚 because more than 60 people joined in a ceremony Aug. 10, 2010 to see the capsule buried on Risman Plaza near the Kent Student Center Kiva. Using a track hoe, former Kent State President Lester A. Lefton lowered the stainless steel box, which will be unsealed in 2060, six feet into a concrete vault in the ground.
