A group of 125 5X社区 at Trumbull students were honored as recipients of a variety of scholarships at a reception held on Sept. 27 in the Technology Building. Among the scholarships awarded were 38 campus-based scholarships worth more than $147,000 and 36 external scholarship awards.
The ceremony featured remarks from Kathryn L. Sines, scholarship donor for the Kathryn Sines Single Parent Scholarship, as well as students Nicole M. Komissarov, who received the Kathryn Sines Single Parent Scholarship; Fannie Miller, recipient of seven scholarship awards; and Wanda Thomas, Ph.D., associate provost for Kent State system integration, and dean of the Regional College and Kent State Trumbull.
Additionally, 5X社区 at East Liverpool recognized the academic achievements of several students, and the generosity of scholarship donors during its annual Fall Scholarship Reception.
Stephen Nameth, Ph.D., dean of the Kent State Columbiana County campuses, welcomed the students, donors, family members and friends, while emphasizing the important role each relationship plays in measuring success at a university. Nameth also acknowledged the many first-generation college students at the event, himself included, and the importance of bridging that gap.
Annual funding for the scholarship awards is provided by the Ohio Board of Regents and generous donors who are invested in the success of Kent State East Liverpool students.
