OneWellU Walking Program Relaunched

The OneWellU Walking Program is being relaunched.

The OneWellU Walking Program is being relaunched. Come join this free 12-week walking program, enjoy the mental and physical benefits of walking, and win some great prizes along the way!

Employees choosing to enroll in the walking program will become part of the American Heart Association鈥檚 (AHA) Walking Club. Club participants will receive a pedometer and may log their daily steps using the AHA Activity Tracker.  In addition, participants can take advantage of the AHA鈥檚 website with features that allow you to track your diet, create and locate walking paths, form walking groups and have access to a personalized walking plan developed by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in collaboration with the AHA. These additional features are optional and available to help you maximize your walking opportunities.

Throughout the 12-week program, Walking Club members will have an opportunity to be entered into a weekly prize drawing. Each employee who walks and tracks a minimum of 56,000 steps/week (average of 8,000 steps/day) for the first six weeks will be entered to win a weekly prize ($50 gift card). During the second six weeks of the program, participants who walk and track a minimum of 70,000 steps (average of 10,000 steps/day) will be entered to win a weekly prize ($50 gift card). The participant with the most steps tracked at the end of the 12-week program will win an iPod Nano; the runner-up will win an iPod shuffle. Registered walkers will also receive weekly reminders with health information and tips included.

This program is available to all full- and part-time faculty and staff, and begins July 15. For information on how to register and participate in the walking program, please visit the OneWellU website and click on the Walking program located under the Programs tab. For additional questions regarding the program, you may contact Rachael Decker at rdecker4@kent.edu or 330-672-8368.
