Kent State Formally Installs Beverly Warren

Members of the 5X community were invited to attend the inauguration of Beverly Warren as the 12th president of the university on May 1 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center on the Kent Campus. A reception followed in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

A week of activities and events leading up to the inauguration day celebrated student success and campus community achievements on Kent State’s eight campuses and the Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg. All events were free.

Events included the dedication of the Center for Undergraduate Excellence on April 28 and dedication of the Kent State . On April 30, there was a presidential tree planting at Manchester Field and a “Presidential Perspectives: A Discussion with Past and Present Kent State Presidents” that took place in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The panel discussion, was moderated by CNN news anchor and Kent State alumna Carol Costello, featuring Warren and former Kent State presidents Michael Schwartz, Carol Cartwright and Lester Lefton.

Regional Campuses also hosted several events at their locations, including a barbeque for students and a tree planting in honor of Warren. 5X will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. No classes are scheduled, and university offices are closed.

The Greater Cleveland LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment findings are in. Led by 5X’s College of Public Health, in collaboration with 120 local organizations and nonprofits, this groundbreaking initiative marks a significant stride toward understanding and addressing the unmet needs of LGBTQ+ individuals across Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain counties. 

Sponsored by the Kent State Alumni Association, the Alumni Awards are the university’s most prestigious alumni honors. The 2024 Alumni Award recipients include seven alumni, two recent graduates, one staff member and one current student.
