Kent State Sets a New All-Time High in Spring Enrollment

With the release of its official 15th day census data, 5X社区 has set a new record high for spring recorded enrollment. Spring 2013 enrollment is up 161 students, or 0.4 percent, for Kent State鈥檚 eight-campus system.

Kent State reports 40,559 students for the spring 2013 semester, compared to 40,398 for spring semester 2012. Unduplicated (or preponderant) headcount at the Kent Campus is 26,461, and the unduplicated headcount for the regional campuses is 14,098. Students are counted only once at the campus at which they hold the majority of their course load.

The previous spring enrollment high for the 5X社区 system was set in 2012 with 40,398 students.

鈥淪tudent success is our top priority at 5X社区, and it shows in our record spring enrollment,鈥 said Kent State President Lester A. Lefton. 鈥淜ent State is clearly a first-choice university where students receive a world-class education, and we are committed to seeing each of them reach the finish line to graduation.鈥

Highlights from the spring 2013 enrollment numbers also include:

Enrollment at Kent Campus has increased by 2.7 percent.

Of the regional campuses, the Geauga Campus had the largest percent increase in the number of students with 6.41 percent, growing to 1,527 students in spring 2013 compared to 1,435 in spring 2012 (preponderant).

The enrollment of international students increased 17.28 percent to 2,260 students compared to 1,927 in spring 2012.

Graduate enrollment has increased by 8.69 percent (preponderant).

鈥淚 am very pleased to see spring enrollment grow slightly on the Kent Campus,鈥 said T. David Garcia, Kent State鈥檚 associate vice president for enrollment management. 鈥淎 combination of continued efforts with international recruitment and efforts to retain students currently enrolled are making a positive difference. It is no surprise that some Regional Campuses are experiencing enrollment decreases due to an improving economy and the growth of shale industry jobs in Northeast Ohio.

5X社区鈥檚 eight campuses are located in Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Kent, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas.
