5X Libraries will once again offer its Stress-Free Zone to all students, faculty and staff on Monday, Dec. 11, and Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 3-5 p.m. in the Garden Room at the University Library. This event gives the Kent State community a chance to wind down during finals week with snacks, games and the ®.
“We know that studies show that full-on, nonstop studying is not good,” said Cynthia Williams, director of marketing, communications and public relations for University Libraries. “You need to take a break, and this is the best way to do it.”
University Libraries has been voted the best place to study five years in a row, Ms. Williams said. This Stress-Free Zone is an academically centered event giving students, faculty and staff a place to relax and reset.
“The guests of honor this year are the Dogs on Campus that come,” Ms. Williams said. “That is definitely the crowd pleaser.”
The dogs love it, the owners love it and the people love it, Ms. Williams said.
“Nothing can make your smile brighter than being able to rub a dog’s fuzzy belly,” she added.
Students also will be able to participate in 3-D printer demonstrations in the Student Multimedia Studio. The activity is a good de-stressor and gives students something to take with them, Ms. Williams added.
Another crowd favorite featured at the event will be healthy snacks, such as popcorn and Capri Sun drinks.
“The students are always excited when they see the Capri Suns,” Ms. Williams said. “They get really into what flavors they want.”
The event has been a big hit in the past with students, faculty and staff, and University Libraries is excited to see the turnout again this year.
