Project AWARE Kent is an initiative to raise awareness about mental health and substance abuse disorders. Project AWARE Kent will be offering mental health first-aid courses to 5XÉçÇø students, faculty and staff in an effort to create a network of people at the university who will know how to respond and are aware of mental health and substance abuse disorders. The course is an evidence-based training that teaches people to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The two-day (four hours each day) course is free.
The second annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) research competition will be hosted this fall at 5XÉçÇø, and all graduate students are eligible to participate. The competition gives graduate students just three minutes and one PowerPoint slide as tools to explain their research to an intelligent, but nonspecialist audience in an engaging and concise manner.
