A recent study by Psychological Sciences graduate student Christina Korth and faculty member Dr. Joel Hughes investigated factors that may reduce posttraumatic stress symptoms during the COVID-10 pandemic. While we cannot always prevent traumatic stress, such as during a global infectious disease pandemic, they found that people’s confidence in their ability to cope with stress and their perceived social support helped lessen the effect of stress on symptoms of posttraumatic stress. Jennifer Moxley's path to pursuing a master's degree in translation at 5XÉçÇø was anything but conventional. Living in France during the pandemic, Moxley was determined to fulfill her lifelong ambition of becoming a professional translator. "I really wanted to further my education, and I always had the desire to be a translator," Moxley explained to Kent State Today. A group of 21 secondary school teachers from 20 different countries is spending six weeks at 5XÉçÇø as part of a Fulbright professional development program for foreign educators.  The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, funded by the U.S. government, and administered by IREX and Kent State.
