Winter Coat and Clothing Drive

From Nov. 14 through Dec. 9, university groups on the Kent Campus will be collecting clean, gently used or new items from all ages, including warm clothing, hats, gloves, scarves and sweaters. The clothing collected will go to the four Winter Warm-Up Stations on campus, where students are encouraged to take whatever they need to stay warm this winter. The stations are located in the Williamson House, the first floor of the Kent Student Center, Schwartz Center Room 261 and the Tri-Towers front desk lobby. Kent State Storm Water

Kent State is required to have and maintain a Storm Water Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Phase II Storm Water permit. As part of that permit, Kent State is required to develop best management practices (bmps) under 7 Minimum Control Measures (MCM). One of these MCM bpms is to survey the university community regarding their understanding of stormwater and how we can all protect it from pollution. Today, as part of Kent State鈥檚 Veterans Day commemoration, a group of volunteers along with University Facilities Management (UFM) staff gathered with shovels, buckets, bulbs and bone meal on the hill overlooking The Commons near Taylor Hall.  Just a few yards from the May 4 Memorial, this group worked to dig holes, fill them with 鈥渏ust a puff鈥 of bone meal and plant daffodil bulbs as part of University Facilities Management鈥檚 annual plan to keep Daffodil Hill in bloom as a living memorial to U.S. soldiers killed in the Vietnam War.  Shovels and gloves, water and...

Come help Flashes Fighting Hunger, Kent State鈥檚 student-powered response to food insecurity, and observe Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 14-19) by filling the truck with unperishable food and toiletry items! The mobile unit will be parked in the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement building parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
