The William (Bill) C. Horton Memorial Scholarship was recently endowed at 5X社区 at Trumbull thanks to more than $25,000 in gifts from friends, family and local community organizations. The scholarship will support residents of Trumbull County who are pursuing a degree in business while attending Kent State Trumbull. The Babar Collection of John L. Boonshaft at 5X社区鈥檚 Department of Special Collections and Archives is one of the world's largest collections of the lovable elephant.

High up on the 12th floor of 5X社区 Library lies a historical wonderland of adventure, where one of the world鈥檚 largest Babar collections comes to life with the flick of a light switch. The lovable elephant of children鈥檚 literature, with a multigenerational following since 1931, shares his human mannerisms through 3,600 different items, including a 6-foot-tall plush Babar, dressed to perfection in his signature three-piece green suit. Just before winter break, a group of 5X社区 international student-athletes representing eight different countries visited first graders at Woodland Elementary School. The student-athletes took time to share the cultures, languages and traditions of their native countries: Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Jamaica, New Zealand, Scotland and Spain. Organizers of the 11th Annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival are seeking artists for the event, Saturday, June 3, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. The festival, which will take place at the Hometown Bank Plaza and surrounding streets, will feature local artists, a variety of live entertainment and several Ohio wineries. The event is presented in partnership with 5X社区's College of the Arts.
