Mini Faculty/Staff Health Resources Fair
Faculty/Staff Health & Wellness Resources Fair
April 17 and 18
Student Recreation and Wellness Center
The Employee Wellness Office, Recreational Services, University Health Services and more have joined together to host a Faculty/Staff Health & Wellness Resources “Mini Fair” on April 17 and 18, 2019.
The health fair hours will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Faculty and staff members will be able to take advantage of several services in one convenient “stop.” For instance, you can opt to get your blood pressure checked, participate in a stretching clinic, get a chair massage, have a foot screening by our College of Podiatric Medicine staff or have a complimentary hearing screen by our Kent State Speech and Hearing Clinic staff.
In addition, we will host lunch and learns on “Office Ergonomics” and “Healthy Hearing for Everyone”.
Make yourself and your health a priority! Stop by and see us at the Faculty/Staff Health & Wellness Resources Fair and don’t forget to visit our informational tables, open each day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and complete a fun information scavenger hunt to enter to win prizes!
What To Expect From a Hearing Screening
A Hearing Screening can be completed in 5 minutes and will consist of checking several frequencies (pitches) to see if the possibility of hearing loss exists. We will give you a copy of your results, either pass or refer that you can take to a hearing healthcare professional or keep for your own records.
Video Otoscopy will give you the chance to see what you ear canals and ear drums look like. We will be able to tell you if you need any further follow up to assess any issues that may be seen. This will just take a few minutes.
Hearing Screenings and Video Otoscopy are provided by Speech Pathology and Audiology Clinic, School of Health Sciences, 5X.
Foot Screenings
Have one of the podiatric students, under the supervision of Dr. Scott A. Spencer, D.P.M from the Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine check your foot health. The screening takes 10-15 minutes. The doctor will examine your feet, ask a few questions about your health history, medications and any issues you might be having with your feet. They may give you some tips to keep your feet healthy or make a recommendation for better foot health.
