Sylvia Bustard
Biography
I have been at Kent State for over 23 years; working in the University Office of Financial and Scholarships during that time. Prior to Kent State I worked as a paralegal after receiving my Bachelor's Degree from Kent State in Justice Studies and Paralegal Studies. Later, I pursued a Master's Degree in Higher Education and Student Personnel and sought a leadership role shortly thereafter. Financial Aid has provided the perfect position that fits my personality. I am able to interact with students and their families on a personal level and use my analytical and creative skills to solve complex problems. I oversee the Federal and State grant and loan programs at Kent State, manage communications for the department, and serve as a liaison with many university departments. As a supervisor, I am focused on creating a positive work culture for my co-workers and helping foster continued learning and improvement within the unit and the Division of Enrollment Management. On a personal level I have 2 children and they keep me busy with band and sports activities. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering and baking.
