鈥淏etter Business Communication and the Brain鈥

 

Session Description
This session will focus on effective communication and presence. Attendees will learn mindfulness techniques to cultivate and command presence, tips and tricks for public speaking and persuasion, and how to better understand and "hack" communication apprehension. Join Jamie Maniloff, M.A. Applied Communication, to uncover the "why" behind different communication styles and effectiveness.


Speaker Bio
Jamie Maniloff, M.A Applied Communication, is a recognized leader across academic, corporate and non-profit organizations. She has worked with Bren茅 Brown to become a certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, is a two-time scholarship recipient from The Cardoner Institute for Contemplative Leadership and is a content strategy professional specializing in structuring data-driven, multi-channel customer lifecycle and digital shopping programs for businesses, including Fortune 500 companies. Maniloff graduated at the top of her Master's class from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and is involved with a variety of committees including Together Digital Detroit, The American Alpine Club and the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), where she participates in conversations around Relationship Marketing and the #SeeHerInSports initiative, which is focused on increasing the visibility and portrayal of women in sports. She is a voracious reader and writer, publishing a quarterly blog on relevant topics including communication and EQ in the workplace, health and wellness, work/life balance, leadership and diversity and inclusion. She is a podiumed triathlete and an avid rock climber, skier and mountain biker. Maniloff has maintained a dedicated yoga and meditation practice for more than a decade and brings the same degree of focus, determination, steadiness and vitality demanded by these practices into her work.

"Mentoring: When to Think About it, Why to Think About it and How to Think About it鈥

 

 


Session Description
This session will focus on how to create a strong and productive mentor relationship. Attendees will learn the difference between mentors and sponsors, learn how to find a good mentor and how to make the relationship the most productive that it can be and tips on how to set goals for yourself and your mentor. One of the most rewarding results of having a good experience is that you will naturally become a great mentor for others as you move through your career.


Speaker Bio
Rose Crane has more than 37 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong focus in commercialization and business operations. She has more than 25 years of therapeutic and consumer drug launch experience. Crane served as president and chief executive officer of MELA Sciences Inc., and was a partner at Appletree Partners. She also served as president and chief executive officer of Epocrates Inc., where she led a very successful IPO. Crane served in various senior executive positions at Johnson & Johnson, including as group chairman, OTC & Nutritional Group, and as group chairman, Consumer, Specialty Pharmaceuticals and Nutritionals. Prior to that, at Bristol Myers Squibb, Crane managed a $7 billion business as president U.S. Primary Care. She has held positions of increasing responsibilities in marketing, product development and global marketing at Bristol Myers Squibb. Crane has served on the Board of Directors for Catalent since 2018, and has served on the Board of Directors of Teva Pharmaceuticals since 2015, where she is currently chair of the Human Resource/Compensation Committee. She has served on six other public boards in the area of biotech and healthcare tech. She is vice chairman of the Foundation Board at State University of New York at Oswego. Crane received an MBA from 5X社区 in 1986 and a B.A. in communications and English from the SUNY Oswego in 1981.

Session Description
Based on EY鈥檚 POWER Up鈩 personal leadership development program, this session covers typical micro-behaviors that can impact a woman鈥檚 personal leadership skills and how to address these micro-behaviors to ensure our personal brand is aligned to how we are perceived. We will touch on the power each of us has to define success on our terms and how we can find that spark that makes us shine. This is a can-do, will-do session filled with practical tips and actions to make a difference in our lives 鈥 professional and personal.

Speaker Bio
Michelle Settecase is an associate director in the EY Knowledge organization with over 20 years with EY. She first worked in the Competitive Intelligence functions and currently serves as senior analyst and knowledge leader for women. She is responsible for developing unique insights on the advancement of women in the economy, the impact of advanced technologies on women and policy and how EY can work with decision and policy makers to affect change in the market.  She is part of EY鈥檚 team supporting EQUALS, a joint ITU-GSMA-UN Women coalition to remove the gender bias in tech, has written global policy recommendations on public procurement鈥檚 impact on women entrepreneurs and the digital gender gap. Settecase is the Americas leader and certified facilitator for POWER Up, a EY trademarked program for women鈥檚 personal leadership development
