FAFSA Information

2025-2026 FAFSA Form Now Open to All

Federal Student Aid announced on 11/21/24 that the 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) has officially been released, 10 days before its Dec. 1 goal. The online FAFSA form is available to all students and families, and the Department is processing submissions and sending them to schools. The paper form is also now available for students to submit.

 

Here are some things you should complete before applying:

  1. if you do not have one already. Students and contributors must each have their own account(s). Check out our “FAFSA resources" information below to learn more about who is required to be a contributor on your FAFSA. 
  2. Make sure you have your Social Security number (unless you are a citizen of the Freely Associated States).
  3. Gather your 2023 tax records
  4. Gather records of your assets, including any child support received; current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts; and net worth of investments, business, and farms.
  5. Make sure you know your contributor's information if applicable. You will need their name, date of birth, Social Security number (if they have one), and email address.
  6. Know what schools you would like to send your FAFSA information to (if you are a high school senior) or your current school's name.

There is still time to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA!

If you haven't already done so, there’s still time to submit the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and receive financial aid for the school year. The 2024-25 academic year includes Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025. The FAFSA should be completed well before all payment deadlines to ensure funds are available to assist with your bill.

If you believe Kent State should have received your FAFSA, please log in and  on the FAFSA dashboard now.

There are a few reasons why your FAFSA may not have been sent to us:

  • Kent State’s school code was not provided on your FAFSA.
  • The incorrect 2023-24 FAFSA was submitted instead of the 2024-25 FAFSA.
  • Consent is required but was not provided on the FAFSA.
  • Required signatures are missing from the FAFSA.

Setting Up Your FSA Username & Password(FSA ID) 

  • is required for online access to the FAFSA. Each student, spouse or parent contributor must have an FSA ID prior to starting the FAFSA.

Financial Aid Estimator

  • The will help students and families estimate any federal aid they may be eligible for during the 2025-2026 academic year. Students must provide some basic financial information to help calculate the estimated Student Aid Index(SAI) and potential federal assistance. This is not the actual FAFSA. You will need to go to to file the form. The form is slated to open in December 2024.
