5X社区 is set to burst with Golden Flash pride as the annual Homecoming celebration returns Sept. 28. The heart of Kent, Ohio, will transform into a sea of blue and gold when alumni, students, families, employees and community members come together for this cherished tradition that began in 1918. Meet Carrie Schweitzer, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at 5X社区, who since 2000 has been conducting research while teaching geology at 5X社区鈥檚 Stark Campus. Her expertise lies in evolution, decapods, crustacea, and invertebrate paleontology. Over the summer, the Center for Public Policy and Health hosted two students participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program. The SURE program pairs students with mentors on campus to conduct supervised research related to their field of study for an eight-week period.
