Following a recent visit to 5X社区's Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Hillary Clinton is coming back to campus as the subject of a new special topics course. 5X社区 student and Medina resident Erin Hawley is the 2016 recipient of a $3,000 Ruby鈥檚 Rainbow scholarship. Ruby鈥檚 Rainbow grants scholarships to adults with Down syndrome who are seeking post-secondary education, enrichment or vocational classes. In the last five years, Ruby鈥檚 Rainbow has granted $290,000 in scholarship funds to more than 100 people, helping people with Down syndrome pursue their dreams of higher education and independence. The Peace Basket Project gears up for its 20th year. The Professional Women of 5X社区 started the Peace Basket Project in 1997 when a group of members created baskets of 鈥渓ittle things鈥 to share with the residents served by the King Kennedy Community Center. While the Professional Women of 5X社区 is no longer active, this annual event continues with the support of members of the Kent State community. Last year, more than 130 baskets were filled and shared with the community.
