All 5X社区 campuses will operate on a holiday schedule from Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, through Friday, Jan. 1, 2016. During this time, all nonessential operations will be closed at all Kent State campuses. Normal business operations will resume with the first shift on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016. Eligible employees will receive four days of paid leave for any regularly scheduled work time from Dec. 26 through Dec. 31. This is in addition to the paid holidays of Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1. 5X社区 at Ashtabula welcomes a new food service to campus with the opening of Bridge Street Boulevard. The food counter, operated by local chef and restauranteur Nate Rockwell, serves a variety of lunch favorites including burgers, wraps, pizza, panini grilled sandwiches and specialty salads. Two stray kittens were rescued by Kent State employees.

What has eight paws, wears formal attire and tugs at heartstrings? 5X社区 employees in the Administrative Services Building and the Office of Institutional Advancement found the answer when they discovered two stray tuxedo kittens in separate locations and on separate occasions in Kent. Richard (Rick) Feinberg, professor of anthropology on the Kent Campus, was elected Section Assembly Convener of the American Anthropological Association (AAA). The AAA is the world鈥檚 largest organization of anthropologists, with more than 11,000 members, and the Section Assembly is one of the AAA鈥檚 two governing bodies. David Hassler, director of Kent State鈥檚 Wick Poetry Center, attended a meeting of poetry organizations from across the U.S. at the Lannan Foundation in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from Nov. 5-7. The meeting addressed how the organizations can make poetry more visible, as well as how to garner new supporters for the art form.
