Haithem Zourrig, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at 5X社区 at Stark, has received a Best Paper Award in the 鈥淕lobal and Cross-Cultural Marketing鈥 track, from the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators (ACME) during its conference on March 7-10, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The paper is titled 鈥淐hanges in Refugees鈥 Consumption Patterns and Well-Being: A Theoretical Framework and Implications for Service Providers."

David Kaplan, Ph.D., Department of Geography, was elected vice president of the American Association of Geographers for 2018-2019. Dr. Kaplan, an American Geographical Society (AGS) councilor and editor of the society鈥檚 flagship Geographical Review journal, will automatically be elected as president for the 2019-2020 term, which will be followed by another term as past president in 2020-2021. He will succeed Dr. Sheryl Luzzadder-Beach of the University of Texas-Austin.

Kenneth Cushner, professor emeritus, School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies, served as intercultural specialist for the fall 2017 voyage around the world, 鈥淪emester at Sea.鈥 He visited 10 countries (Germany, Spain, Ghana, South Africa, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Japan and USA) on four continents over four months.

Richard (Rick) Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, participated in a series of leadership meetings of the American Anthropological Association, the world's largest society of anthropologists from Nov. 28-Dec. 3, 2017, in Washington, D.C. These included meetings of the AAA Executive Board and the Association Operations Committee. Dr. Feinberg chaired meetings of the AAA's Section Assembly and Section Assembly Executive Committee as well as one academic session.
