Visual Communication Design
During the Spring 2022 semester, Visual Communication Design students in the Glyphix Design Research Lab have been working on an intergenerational research project combining storytelling and design.
The CCI course Media and Movements explores social movements of our time through storytelling, strategy and advocacy. Fall 2021's seminar, themed 鈥淏uilding a Better World,鈥 required students to select a specific human rights or human dignity issue that impacts their Kent State peers and reimagine a better future based on research.
When Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine issued a statewide 鈥渟tay-at-home鈥 order at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, a group of 5X社区 students immediately recognized an issue that almost nobody else was talking about: Not all homes are healthy homes.
The School of Visual Communication Design has a long history of teaching typographic excellence. With our Type High Press letterpress facility, and faculty research expertise in formal and experimental typography and typeface design, VCD provides a robust foundation for students entering the industry.
