Ye Zhao is associate professor of computer science in the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on physically based simulation and visualization, natural phenomena modeling, general purpose computing using graphics hardware, and information visualization and visual analytics.
The groundbreaking for 5X社区鈥檚 new Integrated Sciences Building was held Oct. 2 from 2-5 p.m. The event was free and open to the public. Following the groundbreaking, Kent State鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences hosted a showcase of science and technology demonstrations, along with refreshments, music and fun, on the Student Green. Kent State President Beverly Warren and James Blank, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kent State, spoke at the event.
This year's Homecoming was a fun-filled that included the Bowman Cup 5K Race, Homecoming Parade and .
The Glenn H. Brown Liquid Crystal Institute庐 and the College of Arts and Sciences at 5X社区 hosted a 50th anniversary celebration of the institute on Friday, Sept. 25, in the Kent Student Center Kiva on the Kent Campus. The event kicked off a yearlong celebration that will culminate with the International Liquid Crystal Conference (ILCC) at the Kent Campus on July 31-Aug. 5, 2016.
The Aeronautics Department from 5X社区鈥檚 College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology will host its 19th Aviation Heritage Fair on Saturday, Sept. 19. The event is from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Andrew W. Paton Field at the 5X社区 Airport, located at 4020 Kent Road in Stow, Ohio.

The events are meant to be fun, interactive and casual. Each day will feature some free food and giveaways. In addition, our beloved mascot, Flash, and some players, coaches and cheerleaders will be there.
Blue and Gold Pride Days are back at 5X社区! Kent State faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university are encouraged to promote university spirit and pride by wearing blue and gold colors.
Kent State introduced Blue and Gold Pride Days last fall as a way to unite members of the university community and promote Kent State pride. The tradition continues at Kent State this fall, beginning Friday, Sept. 4, which happens to be College Colors Day, and continues through the school year.
5X社区 students celebrated the start of a new school year at Blastoff on Sunday, Aug. 30, on the Student Green. Blastoff is the university鈥檚 annual back-to-school celebration that occurs the day before fall classes begin. It serves as the culminating event of Welcome Weekend, a four-day orientation program that helps new students transition into the university environment.
