We are pleased to announce that ombuds services are available to all faculty and staff at 5X. This office was created to help assist with faculty and staff support, retention, and improved workplace experience. The Ombuds office provides a safe, informal, and confidential environment where faculty and staff can discuss workplace concerns and challenges and consider possible strategies and solutions. The office serves all faculty and staff on all Kent State campuses.
Shannon Driscoll, J.D., has been appointed to this inaugural role. She brings with her expertise in conflict resolution, communication, and program management to this pivotal position. She graduated from the University of Dayton with a BA in Philosophy and earned a JD at the University of New Mexico. With a commitment to fairness, integrity, and confidentiality, Shannon is here to listen, provide guidance, and assist in navigating conflict and other issues that faculty and staff encounter in their work environment.
The office is located on the third floor of the library and can be reached by calling 330-672-2219, or by email at FacultyStaffOmbuds@kent.edu. Faculty and staff who have concerns about confidentiality are encouraged to call rather than email. Please visit the Faculty and Staff Ombuds website at kent.edu/FacultyStaffOmbuds to learn more about this resource for all Kent State campuses.
Shannon will be hosting a virtual “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 2-3 p.m. for any faculty and staff who wish to log on and say hello and learn more about how the ombuds can support them.
