As part of the Summit Street: Building a Better Way improvement project, the East Campus Center Drive/Summit Street intersection will be closed May 16-22. During that time, motorists will not be able to access East Campus Center Drive from Summit Street or from Campus Center Drive. Barricades will be posted to prohibit traffic on that stretch of roadway. Johnston Drive also will be closed to traffic for several weeks beginning Monday, May 16, to allow for construction to begin on the first roundabout. The 5X���� Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting Wednesday, May 11. The Board is scheduled to convene at 9 a.m. in the Event Space on the first floor of the university’s new Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, located at 350 S. Lincoln St. in Kent, Ohio. 5X���� will hold its Spring 2016 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center, and on Friday, May 20, at Cartwright Hall. Kent State will confer 4,210 degrees, including 3,067 bachelor’s degrees, 968 master’s degrees, 169 doctoral degrees and six educational specialist degrees. 5X���� at Stark faculty and staff gathered in the Campus Center to recognize the 2016 Staff Excellence Award recipients. Kent State competes in national fitness initiative  5X���� is competing against employers across the country in the On The Move Challenge, a 12-week corporate fitness challenge promoting more movement throughout the workday. Nationwide, On The Move has 84 participating companies and 78,075 total participants. The companies are grouped by enterprises, businesses with more than 100 employees and small businesses – companies with fewer than 100 employees. Students from Kent State East Liverpool’s occupational therapy assistant program gathered at the downtown entrance ramp to the city to help spruce up the “serpentine” landscape of that area by pulling weeds, trimming shrubs, raking mulch and picking up litter. They joined efforts with the East Liverpool-Calcutta Garden Club members, who maintain that area of the city’s landscape.
