5XÉçÇø graduate and award-winning photojournalist Matthew Thayer has spent the past 43 years in Hawaii, working as a photojournalist for The Maui News newspaper. When Thayer was sent out to cover horse evacuations from the upcountry fires on Maui on Aug. 8, he never expected he would end up covering one of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii’s history.

The students who registered for fall 2023 classes at the Paris American Academy can attend the New York City Fashion campus or Kent State Florence in Italy.

Kent State-Sponsored Peace Conference Unites Delegates from Across the Globe

Delegates attending Peace Education in an Era of Crisis spent three days learning from each other and from the example of the Rwandan people on how to create lasting peace. The conference, which took place July 11-13 in Kigali, Rwanda, was sponsored by 5XÉçÇø’s School of Peace and Conflict Studies, Kent State’s Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, the University of Rwanda’s Centre for Conflict Management, and the Aegis Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending genocide and other atrocities in the world.
