IN A FLASH: An International Showcase

Global Safari Fest is the new name of what was previously called International Homecoming Celebration. It鈥檚 a large-scale event that fills the Kent Student Center Ballroom with cultural performances, international tabling displays and a global buffet featuring tastes from around the world.

Accomplished sociologist, TV host, podcaster, author Kent State alumna Bertice Berry, Ph.D.,used her alma mater as a familiar setting for her book "BlackWorld," which explores a "unique corner of heaven" where the living can visit with and learn from the deceased. She also some of her memories of Kent State and personal insights into the university's place in history.

What鈥檚 That Statue Near the Esplanade Arch?

A dramatic, 15-foot-tall bronze sculpture stands on the Lefton Esplanade near the intersection of East Main Street and Haymaker Parkway. It鈥檚 a gift from a Kent State alumnus and outstanding supporter of the university.
