I PROMISE School fourth graders from Akron, Ohio will learn about the brain at 5X社区's Brain Health Research Institute

5X社区鈥檚 Brain Health Research Institute on Wednesday, Nov. 29, will welcome 94 fourth-grade students from Akron, Ohio鈥檚 I PROMISE School for a day of activities aimed at sparking their interest in science and technology.

Students can create holiday decor using a state-of-the-art waterjet cutter.

From now through Dec. 15, 5X社区 is collecting clean, gently used or new items of warm clothing for all ages, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves and sweaters, as part of its Winter Coat and Clothing Drive.

The relationship between college students and mental health remains important as students may experience stress and burnout due to strenuous routines and other factors. Kent State鈥檚 current mental health campaign has allowed a university-wide discussion regarding mental health and the stigmas associated with talking about it.

David Zachrich poses with class after winning the 2023 Outstanding Teaching Award

After decades as a pastor, David Zachrich had a sudden and dramatic reevaluation of his life. A life-threatening heart attack 15 years ago forced him to step back and reconsider his path. Zachrich鈥檚 cardiologist challenged him to find something to do that he enjoyed. Zachrich immediately thought of teaching, something he very much wanted to do as a second career, and now he's won an award for it.

Team Sri Lanka took first place in Kent State's annual International Cook-off Nov. 17, 2023.

The International Cook-Off Competition, the Office of Global Education's signature event, was held during International Education Week and featured food and beverages from around the world.

Kent State's University Libraries is the place for student success and research. It's a makerspace. It was recently voted "Best Place to Study" by the Kent Stater. It's a repository for journals, books and historical and rare materials. This might be the most traditional function provided by the library in this series so far, but it's anything but ordinary. Take the elevator up and into the past ... and then we pet dogs.
